The old quarries are fascinating by themselves, the scale of the more modern one from the last century cut by machine is impressive - but the smaller medieval ones linked by paths are even more so, especially now they have been transformed into individual botanical gardens by Menorca’s horticultural society. Such a glorious and magical place - wandering in amongst them and discovering them and their amazing trees, fauna and floral displays was a real surprise and a wonderful thing to do. Well done to Menorca for creating such a beautiful historic monument to the thousands of workers who carved Menorca’s beautiful buildings by hand out of the limestone which makes Menorcas architecture so special.
