Cala Pedrera or Padera is situated at one kilometre from the centre of Es Castell de Menorca (founded by the English with the name of Georgetown), located between Punta de Sant Carles and Cales Fonts, surrounded by the villages of Sol de l'Est and Santa Ana, as well as in the interior of the beautiful and spectacularly deep sea inlet (more than three nautical miles) of the Port de Maó. This small bathing are is u-shaped and it is characterized by being protected from the swell by the Illa de Llatzaret (where there is a fortress which was still used in 1917, where the crews and goods were kept in quarantine against possible epidemies). The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good, because it is in the interior of Port de Maó, one of the safest port infrastructures and one of the most appreciated by the navigators of the Mediterranean Sea, where all types of boats can be found (maximum draught of 30 metres).
