Ets Alocs is situated at 11 kilometres from Ferreries, located between Punta d'ets Alocs and Esculls des Barco. This coastal stretch is the border between the municipalities of Ferreries and Ciutadella. The name is given by the Catalan word aloc ('willow tree'), a bush of two to four metres of height that grows in the surroundings. In the past, the fruit was used by women to re-establish the menstruation, and by both, men and women, to reduce the sexual desire. This sea inlet is characterized by being a virgin beach with difficult access for vehicles, it is surrounded by the adjacent hills Penyes de Son Ermità and Marina de Santa Elisabet, it is u-shaped, quite small, with low coast, it is covered by pebbles, and at the rear there is a system of dunes with fixing vegetation (scrubland and bushes) and a wetland irrigated by a torrent. The orientation is toward northwest, the wind and the swell are strong, the slope is steep with a rocky ground and crystal clear water. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe because in this wild marine area there are lots of reefs, sandbanks and flagstones. You are recommended to visit Ferreries, the name is given by the large number of forges that used to exist here, due to the fact that this village is the highest of Menorca and it has spectacular archeological vestiges.
