Cala Escorxada is situated at eight kilometres from es Migjorn Gran, located between Punta de Sant Antoni and de s'Avi. It belongs to the Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès which goes from Cala Mitjana to Binigaus. This coastal stretch belongs to the municipality of es Migjorn Gran and has cliffs that rise up to 40 metres above the sea level, with sea inlets that are the origin of isolated, virgin and beautiful coves. This beach is the result of a u-shaped sea inlet and the mouth of Torrent de sa Torre, and it is characterized by the not very big size, it has quite high rocks on the sides, covered by a thick pine wood that reaches the coastline. It has fine-grained white sand and is exposed to the winds from the southeast-south-southwest, it has a gentle breeze, quiet crystal clear water, and it is not very crowded by local visitors and tourists. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are excellent, if the wind is not blowing from the south, because it makes the swell grow due to the fact that the bay is very open. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs until Cala Mitjana. From here you will have to walk for 40 minutes to reach Cala Trebalúger. Then you have to walk another 40 minutes until you reach Cala Fustam. After 10 more minutes on the same track you will find the adjacent Cala Escorxada. Getting there on the seaway is also usual. Es Canutells or Cala Canutells is situated at 10 kilometres from Maó, located on the southeast coast of the island, between Punta de na Picada and Cap Gros, as well as next to the village with the same name and the residential area ses Tanques. This beach is the result of a sinuous and narrow sea inlet. It is very small, with a sandy surface, it is exposed to the wind from the southeast and it is not very crowded by local visitors and tourists. It is located between the medium-high cliffs of a canyon, with lots of impressive caves and on the left side a village has been built. The coast between Cala Canutells and Calescoves is 1,3 nautical miles long and it is characterized by the high, steep and abrupt cliffs that reach a height of seventy metres, with bushes on the top. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good, although the wind blows from the second and third quadrants, on a sandy ground with seaweed and rocks on the sides. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. You will pass the village of Sant Climent, a very calm village, although it is near the airport of the island, and where there are lots of British residents. Talis or Atalis is situated at five kilometres from es Migjorn Gran, located between Punta d'Atálix and Racó des Cavalls, as well as between the village of Santo Tomàs (west) and Torre de Son Bou or Esfondrada (east; built in the 19th century, only the underground part is preserved). This coastal corner belongs to the eight hectometres of low coast with Platja de Son Bou, the biggest of the island of Menorca. This isolated sea inlet is characterized by its very small size, it has steep rocky areas with no vegetation, agricultural land in the southwest, a sandy beach which is exposed to the wind from the southeast-south-southwest, a gentle breeze, moderate swell, crystal clear water, sandy ground with some areas of seaweed, and it is not very crowded by local visitors and tourists. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not good. The navigator is recommended to do this manoeuvre in the nearby Racó des Cavalls, a natural anchorage, open to the south, where you can even anchor with sea current, although there is a lot of seaweed in this coastal corner. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations until the adjacent Platja de Sant Tomàs. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. From this sandy area you have to walk on a track along the coast to reach Talis. You can also reach this beach with the public transport during the high season. Caleta d'en Gorries or sa Caleta is situated at two kilometres from Ciutadella, located between Torre des Castellar (coastal defence tower of the 18th century where you have excellent panoramic views) and Cala Santandria, as well as next to the village of Cala Santandria. This coastal corner is located on the right side of the entrance of Cala Santandria (northern and north-eastern area), and the name caleta is given by the very small size. This sea inlet is characterized by having residential houses in the surroundings, it has a sandy beach and the coast is abrupt, the rocks are not very high, with vegetation on the top, it is exposed to the winds from the southwest-west, a gentle breeze, the water is calm, clean and transparent, and the slope is gentle. It is quite crowded by local visitors and tourists. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring small boats are good. The navigator is recommended to anchor in the nearby Cala Santandria (two hectometres large in the entrance and seven hectometres long, as well as located at 3,5 nautical miles from Cap ''cape'- d'Artrutx, which is exposed to the wind from the west, but sheltered from the rest of the winds, with a sandy ground, and no dangerous sandbanks, where you can even anchor next to the coast. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards' instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. Cala en Porter is 11 kilometers from Alaior, located between the Esclafat and Ponent hills, as well as next to the urbanization of the same name. To the west of Cala en Porter is Talaia de ses Penyes, built on 68-metre-high cantiles. A huge inlet of the sinuous sea and the mouth of Torrent de Cala en Porter form by touching the mainland a beach in the shape of a shell and a wet area at its back. This stretch of coastline is also characterized by medium dimensions, gentle slope and high influx of local bathers and tourists. This coastal corner is flanked by vertical high cliffs, whose rocks of the right margin are crowned with vegetation and those of the left flank of residential homes. Standing out almost at its tip Cova d'en Xoroi, today a disco with spectacular panoramic views and, in the past, according to the legend, inhabited by a Moor who lacked an ear. The marine and underwater conditions of this sea sleeve do not recommend anchoring boats in bad weather and at night, as it is unprotected from the south-component winds and is shallow. If this manoeuvre is carried out, it is recommended to carry it out near the beach, with a depth of three meters. Access by road is easy following road signs and detours. The private vehicle can be parked free of charge in the surrounding area. In summer, it can be reached by bus. If the beach has surveillance it is obliged to follow the instructions of the lifeguards and the signaling of the flags. The red flag indicates dangerous bathing and implies a ban on bathing. The yellow flag indicates caution, but bathing is allowed. The green flag indicates bathing allowed. The orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. If the beach is not guarded or the service is not operational, be cautious and enjoy the beach avoiding unnecessary risks. Platja d'es Banyuls or Platja de Ponent de l'Arenal de Son Maura is situated at 11 kilometres from Ciutadella, located between Punta de sa Barraqueta and Arenal de Son Saura, as well as below the Talaia d'Artrutx (62 metres high and at three and a half hectometres from the Mediterranean Sea). This coastal corner is the result of a sea inlet which is the origin of two beaches, one toward west, Platja d'es Banyuls, the other toward east, Arenal de Son Maura. Both beaches are separated from each other by a rocky headland. This isolated and virgin coastal stretch is characterized by the quite big size, a beach with fine-grained white sand, it is exposed to the winds from the southeast-south-southwest-west, a gentle breeze, the water is quiet, it has a sandy ground with seaweed, with more seaweed than in the adjacent beach, the slope is gentle and it is not very crowded by local visitors and tourists. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe because the bay is very open to the sea. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations at the end of the route. It is easy to get lost on the narrow rural tracks that lead to this beautiful sandy area. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings of Platja d'es Banyuls. Platja de Capifort or Cala Presili is situated at 17 kilometres from Maó, located between Punta de Presili and Cap de Favàritx or Punta de Capifort, where the Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès of the Albufera es Grau finishes (70 hectares in area and an average depth of 1,5 metres; very rich landscape and many species of flora and fauna). This beach is the result of a very open sea inlet which is also the origin of other coastal corners, as s'Arenal de Morella. The sides of the hills in the surroundings are the natural breakwaters. They are quite high, abrupt and steep, with no vegetation. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good if you are very careful. This coastal corner is surrounded by two capes (Mossèn Vives and Favàritx). It is exposed to the wind from the east, although it is sheltered in the northern area by Punta de Capifort (high and steep cliffs, which continue in the sea for 0,9 nautical miles toward east). In the centre of the entrance there is a flagstone near the coast, at a depth of two metres. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. The last part has to be done on foot because it belongs to the natural reserve of s'Albufera es Grau.
