Cales Morts or Cala en Morts is situated at nine kilometres from Ciutadella, located between Punta cala Morts and d'es Single. It is not an official beach so that there are no vigilance, facilities or buoys. This coastal corner and the adjacent Cala Pous are the only coves located in the surroundings of Punta Nati. The steep and abrupt cliffs that surround them make them nearly inaccessible. This is why this coastal stretch is not very crowded by tourists. This isolated and virgin sea inlet is characterized by being u-shaped, with an irregular and steep coastline, the beach has pebbles and rocks, there is no vegetation in the surroundings, it is exposed to the winds from the northeast-north-northwest, a gentle breeze, the water is calm, the slope is gentle. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good as well as for diving with oxygen. This sea inlet is quite deep and there is a rock in the west of the entrance, in the entrance. Nevertheless you are recommended to navigate along the menorcan north coast only if the sea is calm, because it is very difficult to find safe shelters if the wind is strong. In the surroundings of this coastal corner there is Punta Nati, with the lighthouse with the same name (13 metres high and 42 above the sea level). This is the second north westernmost headland of Menorca. From here the coast goes toward southwest, following this direction until Cap Bajolí (at 2,7 nautical miles). When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards' instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. Ets Alocs is situated at 11 kilometres from Ferreries, located between Punta d'ets Alocs and Esculls des Barco. This coastal stretch is the border between the municipalities of Ferreries and Ciutadella. The name is given by the Catalan word aloc ('willow tree'), a bush of two to four metres of height that grows in the surroundings. In the past, the fruit was used by women to re-establish the menstruation, and by both, men and women, to reduce the sexual desire. This sea inlet is characterized by being a virgin beach with difficult access for vehicles, it is surrounded by the adjacent hills Penyes de Son Ermità and Marina de Santa Elisabet, it is u-shaped, quite small, with low coast, it is covered by pebbles, and at the rear there is a system of dunes with fixing vegetation (scrubland and bushes) and a wetland irrigated by a torrent. The orientation is toward northwest, the wind and the swell are strong, the slope is steep with a rocky ground and crystal clear water. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe because in this wild marine area there are lots of reefs, sandbanks and flagstones. You are recommended to visit Ferreries, the name is given by the large number of forges that used to exist here, due to the fact that this village is the highest of Menorca and it has spectacular archeological vestiges. Cala Longa is a small cove situated in the north shore of the Port of Mahón. It is also a prestigious development very well kept and managed by the neighbourhood association. It is not a place used as a swimming spot but as a mooring area thanks to the pontoons all along its coast.
Cala Carbó is situated at 13 kilometres from Ciutadella and it is not an official beach, located between Cap de Ferro and Punta Roja (there are some reefs in the surroundings). Cap de Ferro has several layers. The strength of the air and sea currents gave it an aspect similar to an old warrior. This isolated virgin sea inlet is characterized by being u-shaped, it is not very big, the vegetation is rare in the surroundings (it is surrounded by dark rocks of the hills of Bassa Verda ''green lake'-), the beach has pebbles, it is exposed to the winds from the north-southwest-northwest, a gentle breeze, a calm water, and a normal slope. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe in front of its coast. The best anchorage is in the adjacent big bay of ses Fontanelles. This bay is sheltered from the winds from the second and third quadrants, and it is deep enough to anchor. Nevertheless you are recommended to only navigate along the north coast of Menorca if the sea is calm because it is difficult to find a safe shelter from the strong wind in this area. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards' instructions and the warnings on flags. Cala en Calderer or Cala Calderer is situated at nine kilometres from es Mercadal, located between the Punta with the same name and Cala Moragues. This coastal stretch is the border between the municipalities of Ferreries and es Mercadal, and this is why half beach belongs to each municipality. This virgin, isolated and quiet beach has no facilities and it is not crowded at all. It is the result of a sea inlet which is the origin of a shell-shaped beach with sand, rocks and seaweed. The size is quite small (only 70 metres long). It is located between the slopes of the green hills of Penyes de Son Ermità (eastern end), which is an Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès of the northern coast of Menorca. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are only excellent in a small beach which is located in the eastern area. The accessibility to this isolated beach is complicated and difficult. The visitor has to reach the fork of Son Ermità. Here you can park your private car and continue on foot on the track you will find on the right side. From this point until Cala Calderer you will have to walk for 2,5 kilometres, passing though the hills and finca Son Ermità. On the right side of Cala Calderer there is a track that leads to Cala Barril, after walking for 1,2 kilometres, from where you can see Illa Bledes. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards' instructions and the warnings on flags. Cala Sant Esteve is situated at 2,5 kilometres from Es Castell de Menorca, surrounded by the Port Malborough (built by the English between 1710 and 1716) and Castell de Sant Felip (very important in the 18th century for the defence of the Port de Maó), as well as located between Torre d'en Penjat (at 150 metres above the sea level, with conic structure, a tower of three levels and beautiful panoramic views) and Punta de Sant Carles, where there is Far de Maó and the access to the port with the same name. It is a big s-shaped sea inlet which goes toward west for a long distance, is the origin of this bathing area with no sand or rocks, with a steep slope (very near the coast it is already deep). There are lots of summer residences in the surroundings, as well as a large number of small boats anchored along the sinuous coastline. This bathing area has an orientation toward northeast and the wind is moderate, so that the swell is strong. Nevertheless the beach is not too crowded by local visitors and tourists. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good, although the manoeuvre is difficult due to the large number of boats anchored in the interior. The navigator must know that in the southern area and in the entrance there is a flagstone, known as Llosa de sa Punta de Migjorn. In the surroundings there are lots of fishers. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards' instructions and the warnings on flags.
