Cala en Cavaller is situated at 15 kilometres from Maó, located between Morro de sa Falconera and Cap de Mossèn Vives. It belongs to the Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès de s'Albufera es Grau (70 hectares in area, and an average depth of 1,5 metres, very rich landscape with many species of flora and fauna, so that the Unesco declared Menorca Reserve of the Biosphere in 1993. This virgin and beautiful beach is the result of a sea inlet that is the origin of this gravel area which is about 40 metres long. It is surrounded by the hills that reach the sea. These rocks are quite high, they have a green cover of bushes and scrubland, which reach the coastline. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe, although this cove is sheltered by Cap de Mossèn Vives. Nevertheless this coastal corner belongs to the stretch between s'Illa ('island') de Colom and Cap de Favàritx or Punta de Capifort, two and a half nautical miles of high coast, irregular and stony, so that navigation in this area is difficult, due to the fact that it is full of flagstones, sandbanks and reefs. The small coves and sea inlets that you can find here and there between Punta de ses Àguiles (south) and Cap de Mossèn Vives, have natural obstacles that make the access to the sea difficult. These characteristics explain that the beach is not very crowded by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change. Cales Morts or Cala en Morts is situated at nine kilometres from Ciutadella, located between Punta cala Morts and d'es Single. It is not an official beach so that there are no vigilance, facilities or buoys. This coastal corner and the adjacent Cala Pous are the only coves located in the surroundings of Punta Nati. The steep and abrupt cliffs that surround them make them nearly inaccessible. This is why this coastal stretch is not very crowded by tourists. This isolated and virgin sea inlet is characterized by being u-shaped, with an irregular and steep coastline, the beach has pebbles and rocks, there is no vegetation in the surroundings, it is exposed to the winds from the northeast-north-northwest, a gentle breeze, the water is calm, the slope is gentle. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good as well as for diving with oxygen. This sea inlet is quite deep and there is a rock in the west of the entrance, in the entrance. Nevertheless you are recommended to navigate along the menorcan north coast only if the sea is calm, because it is very difficult to find safe shelters if the wind is strong. In the surroundings of this coastal corner there is Punta Nati, with the lighthouse with the same name (13 metres high and 42 above the sea level). This is the second north westernmost headland of Menorca. From here the coast goes toward southwest, following this direction until Cap Bajolí (at 2,7 nautical miles). When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards' instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. Ets Alocs is situated at 11 kilometres from Ferreries, located between Punta d'ets Alocs and Esculls des Barco. This coastal stretch is the border between the municipalities of Ferreries and Ciutadella. The name is given by the Catalan word aloc ('willow tree'), a bush of two to four metres of height that grows in the surroundings. In the past, the fruit was used by women to re-establish the menstruation, and by both, men and women, to reduce the sexual desire. This sea inlet is characterized by being a virgin beach with difficult access for vehicles, it is surrounded by the adjacent hills Penyes de Son Ermità and Marina de Santa Elisabet, it is u-shaped, quite small, with low coast, it is covered by pebbles, and at the rear there is a system of dunes with fixing vegetation (scrubland and bushes) and a wetland irrigated by a torrent. The orientation is toward northwest, the wind and the swell are strong, the slope is steep with a rocky ground and crystal clear water. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe because in this wild marine area there are lots of reefs, sandbanks and flagstones. Cala Torta is situated at 10 kilometres from es Mercadal, located between Punta de sa Torre and des Vernís. From its coast you can see far away the Illa des Porros. This bathing area is the result of a shell shaped sea inlet, quite small, with no vegetation in the surroundings and with a steep and abrupt coast. The headland that separates Cala Torta from Port de Sanitja includes Torre de Sanitha, a defence tower which rises 15 metres above the sea level. This fortress is not very well preserved nowadays because of the erosion of the sea and the wind. This conic structure with octagonal form was built with stones, mortar and marès. At a small distance from Torre de Sanitja you can still find another smaller construction. This might have been used by the guard. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good, because it is very sheltered with a depth that reaches nine metres.
